It took 37 months to build this brand-new arena, which is just five miles away from LA’s international airport. Clippers invested $2 billion in the Intuit Dome to bring the top-class basketball action.
NBA hosted All-Star games in Los Angeles many times but this will be the first time it takes place at the Clippers’ home court. LA will host the All-Star Game for the first time since 2018 when the All-Star event was played at Staples Center. It was also the first instance when the NBA introduced the draft-based format instead of the traditional format.
Los Angeles hosted the All-Star Game six times in 1963, 1972, 1983, 2004, 2011 and 2018. Inglewood hosted the event in 1972 and 1983.
LA had a history of producing historic performances in the All-Star Game. In 2011’s All-Star event, Kobe Bryant highlighted 37 points and 14 rebounds at Staples Center. The Lakers superstar was named the All-Star Game MVP.
The 2026 All-Star Game will also be special as it will be the first All-Star event for NBC and Amazon, who secured a huge 11-year, $76 billion broadcasting rights deal that starts this fall.
NBA has also confirmed the host city for the 2027 NBA All-Star Game. Phoenix (Arizona) has the hosting rights for the 2027 event and Footprint Center will get a chance to host the prestigious event for the record third time.
