Giannis Antetokounmpo suggests a Team USA versus Team World matchup to improve the competition at the NBA All-Star game.
In recent years, the NBA All-Star Game has struggled to maintain the excitement and competitive spirit that once made it a highlight of the basketball calendar. In an effort to attract the fans, the NBA introduced a new format for the 2025 All-Star Game but it also failed to hit the mark as both fans and many players, including Draymond Green, criticized the format.
In his latest X post, Milwaukee Bucks’ star Giannis Antetokounmpo shared multiple ideas to improve the All-Star game. He also expects the NBA to shift the 2027 All-Star game from USA to foreign locations like “Rio De Janeiro” or “a city in China” to get global reach.
“2027 All star game should be in Rio de Janeiro or in a city in China!” Giannis Antetokounmpo wrote on X.
The superstar, who was selected to make his ninth All-Star appearance but was sidelined due to an injury, also suggested a Team USA versus Team World matchup to improve the competition at the NBA All-Star game.
“I would love that. I think it’d be the most interesting & most exciting format”, Giannis told the reporters ahead of the All-Star game.
“I think that would give me a little more extra juice.”
