Napoli Seal Historic Serie A Title Win in Dramatic Final Day Under Antonio Conte

Scott McTominay and Romerlu Lukaku Fire Conte’s Men to Their Fourth League Title.

Napoli have claimed their fourth league title and this is their second Serie A title in three seasons. They defeated Cagliari 2-0 on the final day to edge past Inter Milan by a single point. It was certainly a thrilling climax to the Italian top-flight campaign. They headed into the final round with just a one-point lead over Inter.

Antonio Conte’s side knew that only a win would secure them the Scudetto — and they definitely delivered under pressure. Scott McTominay opened the scoring with a stunning volley in the 42nd minute. Then Romelu Lukaku added a second goal early in the second half. Even though Inter ended their final day clash with a 2-0 win at Como, Napoli’s result held firm.

Conte Makes History with Third Serie A Club

This win marks a historic achievement for Antonio Conte. The Italian manager became the first ever to win the Serie A title with three different clubs. He previously led Juventus and Inter Milan to their title wins. Napoli endured a disastrous 10th-place finish last season.

Conte made a complete squad overhaul at the start of this season and rebuilt Napoli into champions. And he has done it without the stars who won them the 2023 title. Victor Osimhen was loaned to Galatasaray, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was sold to Paris Saint-Germain in January.

Yet the arrivals of Lukaku and McTominay proved decisive. Lukaku has led their front line with 14 league goals. Meanwhile, McTominay contributed 12 from midfield in his best-ever professional campaign. These performances from their key players along with Conte’s technical abilities saw Napoli grab their fourth and the 55-year-old coach grab this third title.

Defence at the Core of Revival for Napoli

Despite scoring fewer goals than several rivals, Napoli boasted the league’s best defensive record. They’ve only managed 59 across the season but on the same hand they only conceded 27 goals. This rock-solid backline was crucial. Especially given the team’s lack of European commitments.

They also exited the Coppa Italia early into the season. This allowed Conte to focus fully on the domestic title. Nerazzurri, who were neck-and-neck with Napoli for much of 2024, faltered with late-season losses to Bologna and Roma. That gave Napoli the edge — and they never looked back.
