Como vs Inter Milan, Serie a Preview – Do-or-Die Clash for Nerazzurri With One Eye on Napoli

Key Injuries, Predicted Lineups & Match Preview for the Crucial Serie A Clash on May 23.

Como vs Inter Milan: The Serie A title race is heading to a thrilling conclusion with Inter Milan and Napoli at a neck-to-neck run. It has all come down to the last Series A matchweek where Nerazzurri will face Como on Friday in a decisive clash. They’re trailing Napoli only by a single point. Hence, the reigning champions must win this match.

However, that won’t be enough as they will have to hope for a slip-up by their rivals to defend their title. Their final league fixture arrives just eight days before their Champions League showdown with PSG. Hence, there are some questions about squad rotation as well. Como, however, are no pushovers. They’re riding high after a remarkable return to the top flight.

Do-or-die clash for Nerazzurri

Inter Milan squandered a golden chance to leapfrog Napoli last weekend as they drew 2-2 against Lazio. A dramatic late penalty cancelled out a Dumfries goal in that match. Now, Simone Inzaghi’s men must beat Como and pray that Napoli drop points in their match against Cagliari today.

However, the win won’t come easy for the Nerazzurri as their recent away form has been concerning. They’ve managed only two wins in their last eight Serie A games on the road. However, past records are in their favour. They’ve won their last eight league meetings against Como. This includes December’s 2-0 win at San Siro.

Como Team News

Como will be without their star striker Assane Diao. He remains sidelined with injury after scoring eight goals since January. In his absence, creative midfielder Nico Paz should be the main attacking outlet. Paz has contributed six goals and eight assists for the Lariani this season.

They are also dealing with the injuries of Sergi Roberto and Alberto Dossena. Both of them will be missing the match as well, while defender Edoardo Goldaniga will be serving a suspension. Ivan Smolcic is expected to deputize. Meanwhile, veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina will make his final appearance before hanging up his boots.

Como Probable Starting Lineup:

Butez; Valle, Kempf, Smolcic, Vojvoda; Perrone, Da Cunha; Strefezza, Caqueret, Paz; Douvikas

Inter Milan Team News

Inter have received a timely boost with Davide Frattesi and skipper Lautaro Martinez returning to full training ahead of their trip to Como. However, they may not start the match. Both are likely to start on the bench, with Simone Inzaghi potentially looking to rotate his squad before the Champions League final.

Meanwhile, Piotr Zielinski and Benjamin Pavard will be missing the clash because of their respective injuries. In-form Denzel Dumfries, who has scored 11 goals and provided five assists this season for the Nerazzurri, could be rested. If Lautaro starts, Mehdi Taremi will likely drop to the bench.

Inter Milan Probable Starting Lineup:

Sommer; Augusto, De Vrij, Bisseck; Dimarco, Zalewski, Calhanoglu, Asllani, Darmian; Taremi, Correa
