Napoli vs Cagliari Serie A – Injury News, Match Preview and Predicted Line-Ups

Abhinav Goel

With survival confirmed, Cagliari will be hoping to crash Napoli’s party and finish their season on a high.

Napoli are just one step away from making history. A win at home against Cagliari on Friday night would crown them Serie A champions as they will finish ahead of Inter Milan in a tense title race that’s gone right down to the wire.

Both Napoli and Inter dropped points last weekend, keeping the title race alive. Napoli hold a narrow one-point lead, and with Inter facing Como at the same time, there’s even a small chance the title could be decided by a playoff if they finish level. But Napoli can settle it themselves with a win. It would be their fourth Scudetto in history, adding to their titles in 1987, 1990, and most recently in 2023.

Despite not being at their best lately, Napoli have kept things steady with four wins and two draws in their last six matches, conceding just two goals in that run. Cagliari, on the other hand, head into this final match with their Serie A safety already secured. A 3-0 win over Venezia last week confirmed their survival. With nothing to lose, they’ll be hoping to crash Napoli’s party and finish their season on a high.

Napoli Injury News

Napoli could be without a few important players for their crucial final match of the season. Both Stanislav Lobotka and Alessandro Buongiorno are racing to be fit after aggravating existing injuries by returning to action too soon. Meanwhile, defender Juan Jesus is also close to making a return.

Midfielder Billy Gilmour is expected to keep his place in midfield alongside Scott McTominay. Notably, McTominay’s had a strong season at the Maradona Stadium with seven goal contributions in 2025. He even went close to breaking the deadlock in the last game but saw his late free-kick tipped onto the bar by Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

Up front, Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku remains the main threat with 13 goals and 10 assists this season. He’ll likely be partnered by Giacomo Raspadori in attack.

Napoli Predicted Line-Up

Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Olivera, Spinazzola; Politano, Anguissa, Gilmour, McTominay; Raspadori, Lukaku

Cagliari Injury News

Cagliari will be boosted by the return of Leonardo Pavoletti, who is back from suspension. Up front, Roberto Piccoli is expected to lead the line again after scoring his 10th goal of the season last week.

However, Zito Luvumbo (thigh injury) and Gianluca Gaetano (knee) are both ruled out. Gaetano recently underwent meniscus surgery, so he won’t feature in the final game. Their absence opens the door for Pavoletti or Nicolas Viola to start alongside Piccoli in the attack.

Cagliari Predicted Line-Up

Caprile; Zappa, Mina, Luperto; Zortea, Deiola, Makoumbou, Adopo, Augello; Viola; Piccoli
