Thomas Tuchel’s selections also include a strong contingent from clubs set to compete in the upcoming Club World Cup.
England manager Thomas Tuchel has announced his 26-man squad for the upcoming European Qualifier against Andorra and a friendly versus Senegal in June. Most notably, not a single player from Manchester United, Manchester City, or Tottenham Hotspur has made the cut.
Among the biggest surprises is the recall of striker Ivan Toney. The former Brentford striker, now plying his trade in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli, has been handed his first England call-up since last summer. His exceptional return of 22 goals in 29 matches for the Saudi Pro League side has clearly impressed Tuchel, who omitted Toney from his debut squad back in March.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah has received his first senior call-up. The versatile defender has climbed through the England youth ranks from U16s to U21s. Chalobah has now finally earned a chance at the senior level following strong performances for the Blues this season.
Tuchel’s selections also include a strong contingent from clubs set to compete in the upcoming Club World Cup including players from Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid. Jude Bellingham, despite needing shoulder surgery post-tournament, is in the squad as well.

Meanwhile, Phil Foden, Harry Maguire, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke have all been excluded by Tuchel. These players from Man City, Man United, and Spurs had featured regularly in the past squads. This marks the first time in recent memory that England will head into international fixtures without representatives from these Premier League giants.
