Monday Night Raw ended in chaos last week when Iyo Sky was brutally attacked by Asuka and Kairi Sane. Rhea Ripley won the match against Asuka, and the latter turned out to be a sore loser. She attacked Rhea Ripley and forced Kairi Sane to attack her as well.

Iyo Sky came to rescue Rhea Ripley and was betrayed by her family. Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane brutalized Iyo Sky, too, as the Raw ended with both Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley down inside the ring. Rusev brutalized JD McDonagh earlier that day to get his match against Dominic Mysterio. This would be the first time he has competed in a title match since his return to WWE.
