Monaco GP Predictions: Will Home Hero Charles Leclerc Retain His Crown?

Rohan Singh

Charles Leclerc is getting faster as the race weekend approaches qualifying in Monaco.

The Monaco Grand Prix last year was nothing short of legendary. After decades of draught, the principality was a witness to their home hero winning the race. The streets of Monaco have been cheering for Charles Leclerc since his days in junior racing. But, it has not been easy for Leclerc at home.

For years, there was a notion that Charles Leclerc is under some sort of curse at Monaco. Every time the Monegasque would visit his home circuit, he would face a tragedy and lose an advantage. The incidents that have been happening to Leclerc in Monaco are painful to watch. He has faced every kind of issue of possible. Many times, Leclerc was the race leader in Monaco.. Although, his lead could not last long either due to DNF or strategic errors.

The prince of Scuderia Ferrari was finally able to turn around his luck in the previous season. Charles Leclerc not only earned a pole position in Monaco GP 2024. He went on to win the race without breaking any sweat. The Monegasque was incredibly emotional, following his victory at home.

Has Charles Leclerc Regained His Form at Ferrari?

Charles Leclerc was in brilliant form in the previous F1 season. He went on to bring multiple victories for Ferrari with his old teammate, Carlos Sainz. But, it looks like Ferrari have hit a major obstacle in 2025.

Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are simply unable to get the best pace out of their cars. At this point, Ferrari is competing more with Williams than the top-3 teams. The Imola GP weekend was one of the biggest lows for Ferrari this year. The way Ferrari was eliminated in Q2 rang danger bells for the Tifosi.

Monaco GP focuses heavily on Saturday’s pace and race strategy. If Ferrari were to race like the previous weekends, it would become impossible for Charles Leclerc to even claim points.

But, Leclerc’s pace in the free practice sessions is showing promise. He was able to put his prancing horse on top of the timesheets in both sessions. As a matter of fact, In FP1 Leclerc managed to set the fastest time among all drivers with a heavy collision and broken front wing.

If Leclerc manages to keep his pace on Saturday, he can look forward to a potential victory. Ferrari have not won any races this season. To earn a consecutive victory at home will be a huge confidence boost for the team. They are still not over the disappointment in front of the Tifosi at Imola.
