The Monaco Circuit is one of oldest street circuits of Formula 1. As a part of the Triple-Crown, Monaco GP is among the most popular races. Monaco is a part of Formula 1 since 1955. The race is being hosted since 1929.

Monaco GP will follow a three day weekend schedule. The schedule starts from Friday, 23rd May 2025. Monaco Circuit focuses more on grid position compared to other races. Monaco’s home hero is the defending winner at this track. Charles Leclerc, Formula 1 driver with Scuderia Ferrari, won the race in 2024 starting from pole position.

The Monaco Circuit is under criticism for boring races for the past years. The track is incredibly narrow. The current generation of Formula 1 cars do not allow much overtaking. In order to promote better racing, new pit stop rules are being added to Monaco GP this season.

Monaco GP Circuit History

The Monaco Circuit has been a part of racing history since 1929. It became a part of F1 in 1950 for the first time. It was not hosted for two years until 1955. From 1955, the race is a regular event in the F1 calendar.

Graham Hill was the first driver to dominate the event. He won five races in the 1960s. Hill earned the title of “King of Monaco” for his achievements. Ayrton Senna became the best driver at Monaco after winning six races in his career. He won the Grand Prix five times in consecution from 1989 to 1993.

It was also the era of Senna and Prost’s rivalry in Formula 1. Prost managed to win four races before Senna took his consecutive wins at Monaco. Charles Leclerc is the defending winner at the GP.

The 2026 Formula 1 schedule for Monaco Grand Prix will host 78 laps of racing action. In total, Monaco will complete 260.286 km of racing. The track is one of the shortest in F1 calendar. The circuit stats are given below-
