Kudus Reports for Pre-Season as Tottenham Plot Second Move

Ritam Dey

Mohammed Kudus has returned to pre-season training at West Ham United amid intensifying transfer interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The 24-year-old Ghanaian forward, who joined the Hammers from Ajax in 2023, is understood to be open to a summer departure as he eyes Champions League football in the next phase of his career.

Tottenham have already had a £50 million bid rejected by West Ham, but remain undeterred and are preparing an improved offer. The North London club has identified Kudus as a top attacking priority following their stalled pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who now looks set for a switch to Manchester United.

Spurs Face Release Clause Deadline

A crucial element in the potential transfer is Kudus’ release clause, which is valid until Thursday. It enables Premier League clubs to activate the forward’s exit for £85 million, while European clubs can sign him for £80 million. Offers from Saudi Arabia would need to meet a significantly higher release figure of £120 million.

Despite the clause, Spurs are confident that a deal could be agreed at a figure well below those benchmarks. With informal discussions ongoing, Tottenham hope West Ham will soften their stance if a new offer arrives quickly, especially before the release clause expiry.

West Ham in Strong Position but Pressure Mounts

Kudus still has four years remaining on his contract, placing West Ham in a favourable negotiating position. However, the player’s openness to a move, coupled with Tottenham’s growing interest, means a decision may be forced sooner rather than later.

Since arriving from Ajax last summer for £38 million, Kudus has made 65 appearances for West Ham and impressed with his creativity and versatility in attack, contributing 13 goals in the Premier League.

As the summer transfer window heats up, Kudus’ future remains a key storyline. While he continues to train with West Ham, all eyes are on Tottenham’s next move — and whether it will be enough to break the deadlock in this high-stakes London transfer saga.
