Mirra Andreeva won her first three matches without dropping a set.
World No. 7, Mirra Andreeva would eye a berth in the 2025 Roland Garros quarterfinals when she will face Daria Kasatkina in the fourth round. The Russian ace overcame Yulia Putintseva in the third round with a straight-set victory, while the Australian No. 1 surprised 10th-seeded Paula Badosa to reach the round of 16. Both players will meet each other for the first time in the Grand Slam.
Mirra Andreeva is going through a dream run of form and she qualified into her fifth Grand Slam round of 16. She has dropped only one fourth round fixture out of four. The Russian ace won consecutive WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells this year. She beat Aryna Sabalenka in the final of the Indian Wells which shows Andreeva’s class against top players.
Mirra won her first three matches without dropping a set and in previous victory, she lost only four games against Putintseva. At the age of 18, she is playing like a pro and would be favourites to reach semifinals this year. She also reached the quarterfinals in Madrid and Rome. Andreeva was the semifinalist in the Roland Garros last year and beat players like Sabalenka and Azarenka in the career-best run on the Persian clay.

Daria Kasatkina failed to win straight games in the French Open, but finally ended this pattern in the 2025 edition. The Australian No. 1 dispatched Paula Badosa in straight sets in a third-round victory. It was her second career Slam top-10 win. Kasatkina reached the semifinals of the Roland Garros in 2022 which remains her best Grand Slam performance. Meanwhile, she has a 3-4 record in Slam fourth round matches but holds a 2-1 lead in the French Open.
Mirra Andreeva and Daria Kasatkina will play only for the second time. The Australian ace takes a 1-0 lead over former national rivals. When they last met each other, it was an All-Russian final in Ningbo Open where Kasatkina had the final laugh in three-set thriller.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Ningbo Open | Final | Daria Kasatkina | 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 |

Mirra Andreeva is a different player this year and her clay-court performance makes her favourite to reach another quarterfinals. The Russian No. 1 has a 12-3 record on clay and also played semifinals in the French Open last year. Two WTA 1000 titles in the same year is already a big milestone for the young player. Kasatkina gained big confidence after beating a top-10 player in the third round but this matchup would demand better temperament. It should be a proper three-set thriller but Andreeva will find a way to crack the victory.
Prediction: Andreeva to win in three sets.
