Manchester United’s to Nottingham Forest highlighted their biggest problem once again - the lack of a reliable goal scorer.
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is gearing up for his first summer transfer window at the club. The 40-year-old Portuguese manager took charge at Old Trafford in November amid high expectations, but his start has been a mixed bag. While he has successfully led the Red Devils to the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, their Premier League form remains a concern.
Manchester United suffered their 13th loss of the season as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. The match was decided by a moment of brilliance from former Red Devil Anthony Elanga, who punished his old club with a stunning solo goal. The Swedish forward weaved through the defence before calmly placing his shot beyond goalkeeper Andre Onana to seal all three points for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Manchester United’s to Nottingham Forest highlighted their biggest problem once again – the lack of a reliable goal scorer. Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have both struggled all season, and manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly ready to move on from the duo in the summer. As a result, United have reportedly identified Ademola Lookman as their top priority target for the summer transfer window.

Lookman has been in sensational form for Atalanta since joining the Italian club in 2022. The Nigerian forward has been in fine form this season as well, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists in 28 starts across all competitions. Capable of playing as a striker, attacking midfielder, or even out wide, his versatility would makes him a valuable asset for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Following a fallout with manager Gian Piero Gasperini, Atalanta are now open to selling Ademola Lookman and have set a €60 million asking price. According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United are prepared to meet Atalanta’s asking price as they look to bolster their attacking options.
A meeting with Lookman’s representatives is expected to take place in April, with the 27-year-old also keen on making a return to the Premier League. Lookman’s standout performances for Atalanta have caught the attention of several top clubs with Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Juventus also monitoring his situation closely.
