Manchester United Fixtures: What are the Upcoming Games for Man United in April?

The Red Devils Will Face Four Teams in the Premier League and One in the Europa League Quarter-Final in April.

The 2024-25 season is coming to a close soon but for Man United, it doesn’t look like it could come sooner. With a forgetful season in the Premier League, the Red Devils are trying to salvage something out of the Europa League at least. Domestically, they were knocked out of the EFL Cup FA Cup.

They fell at the hands of Spurs in the EFL Cup quarter-finals back in December last year. In what was a thrilling match, the Red Devils fought till the last minute but Spurs still won the match by a 4-3 margin. They managed to stay in the FA Cup until the fifth round where they faced Fulham.

In that match, after trailing early, they managed to equalize and hold on till the official minutes of the match. However, they failed in the penalties as Fulham progressed to the quarter-finals with a 3-4 margin win on penalties. However, they have managed to land themselves into a spot at the Europa League quarter-finals.

Ending the group stage at third place in the table, Man United drew against Real Sociedad in the Round of 16. They showed their dominance as they secured their spot in the quarter-finals with a 5-2 win in aggregate. However, in the Premier League, they can do very little to salvage the season.

It also does not look like they will be able to qualify for any European competition next season. Sitting in 13th place, they have to hope for teams above to falter and continue to get consecutive wins for themselves in the Premier League. Starting with the four they have in April along with two Europa League quarter-final fixtures.

Man United Team News & Opponents

The Red Devils have already played one game on April 2 against Nottingham Forest. It was a narrow win for Nottingham who are in tremendous form currently. With the second fixture for the month to be a spicy one against their city rivals, the Red Devils would need their strongest squad.

However, they are handling a number of key players’ injuries currently. Ayden Heaven and Amad Diallo are recovering from ankle inside, Kobbie Mainoo is nursing a calf problem, Lisandro Martinez is out with a knee issue, Johny Evans is yet to recover from his muscle problem, and Luke Shaw is nursing a hamstring injury.

Shaw may return against Man City while Mainoo may return in the next match against Lyon in the Europa League. However, the rest will take some time. Considering Manchester City’s diminished form, the Red Devils could get away with a win there. They would have to fight hard against Lyon, but the French club has been inconsistent.

Hence, Man United still have a chance to qualify for the semi-finals. Newcastle United will be a tough cookie to crack with them still flying confidently high after winning the EFL Cup title, which was their very first domestic trophy win in 79 years. Wolves may be an easier opponent, having dwelling just above the relegation zone.

Wolves are nine points ahead of the relegation zone but still just above the zone in 17th place. Whereas, Bournemouth will be tougher than them considering they are fighting for a spot to qualify for European competition. The Red Devils have some mixed levels of games in the coming weeks which will set the tone for the season end for them.
