Key Injuries, Predicted Lineups & Match Preview for the crucial Premier League clash on April 6.
Chelsea will continue in their efforts to push for a Champions League spot next season as they take on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday. Enzo Maresca’s men are sitting in fourth place in the Premier League standings, with Man City breathing on their neck from the fifth place, trailing by a single point.
Whereas, Brentford are occupying the 12th place with very little chances of climbing to the European competition qualification zone. However, they still have a chance of finishing in the top half. The Bees are coming into this match on the back of a 2-1 loss to Newcastle in midweek which halted their five-game away winning streak against the Magpies.
"We want to end as high as possible. We want to get a home win. We believe in ourselves and I think we are in a very good place" 💬

To add to their woes, they also have a seven-game winless run at home. To pile on unfortunate records, they are currently the only team in the league who have failed to register a clean sheet at home this season. On the other hand, Chelsea edged out Spurs to win 1-0 on Thursday.
This was their fourth consecutive win against their city rivals. Their home form has been strong, but the Blues are struggling on the road. They’ve lost their last four Premier League away games. With that, they’ll be eager to break that record on Sunday. Added to these, both teams dealing with key injuries, the match becomes more interesting.
Brentford will be without Fabio Carvalho for the rest of the season following his shoulder surgery. Igor Thiago and Josh Dasilva are yet to recover from their respective knee injuries. Gustavo Nunes and Aaron Hickey featured for Brentford’s B team recently. However, they’re not yet ready for first-team action.
The Bees have some positive news working in their favour as Rico Henry could return to the matchday squad after recovering from a hamstring problem. Midfielder Mathias Jensen should also be available for this match after illness ruled him out of the Bees’ last two fixtures.

Chelsea’s injury list has grown, with Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana both sidelined by fresh muscle injuries. Lavia is expected to recover sooner than Fofana. Omari Kellyman has been ruled out for the season because of a hamstring problem.
Whereas, Mykhaylo Mudryk will serve his suspension after he tested positive for a banned substance. On the brighter side, Reece James may start the game after a late cameo against Spurs. Noni Madueke could also start the match after he returned from injury in Thursday’s win.
