Madison Keys vs. Katie Boulter Preview, Prediction and Betting Odds for the French Open 2025 Round 2

Rudra Dubey

Grand Slam champ Keys takes on Boulter in round two Roland Garros.

Seventh seed Madison Keys will face Katie Boulter for the first time in the second round of the 2025 Roland Garros. The reigning Australian Open champion looked sharp in her opener, easing past qualifier Daria Saville in straight sets. Boulter had a tougher start, dropping the first set in a tiebreak to Carol Monnet, but responded with a decisive gear shift to take the next two and seal the win.

This marks Boulter’s best run at Roland Garros, while Keys is no stranger to the Parisian clay, reaching the semifinals in 2018. Neither player has hit top gear lately, but with both looking to find rhythm on clay, their first-ever clash could go either way and set the tone for a budding rivalry.

Madison Keys vs. Katie Boulter Preview

Keys started her season on fire with deep runs in Auckland and Adelaide before capturing her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, defeating Aryna Sabalenka in a gripping final. Along the way, she powered past top contenders like Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, and Danielle Collins.

She backed it up with a semifinal run in Indian Wells, but she has hit a slump since then, with only a quarterfinal in Madrid and an early exit in Rome. Still, her 24-6 record, 139 aces, and a stellar 45.1% return points won, underline her dangerous all-court game.

Boulter, meanwhile, has had a disrupted season due to a foot injury that kept her sidelined for two months post-Australian Open. Since returning in Indian Wells, results have been mixed with early exits. Though she recently found rhythm by winning the WTA 125K Paris title, edging Chloe Paquet in a hard-fought final.

With only 12 matches played this season, Boulter’s numbers, with 40 aces, 65.7% first-serve points won, and a solid 52% break point conversion, suggest promise, but match sharpness may still be a work in progress.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
