Luis Enrique Urges PSG to Stay Grounded Ahead of Chelsea Clash

The Spanish Coach Calls for Focus As PSG Aim To Cap a Historic Season

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has urged his team to approach the Club World Cup final with caution. He has warned his team to not take their opponents Chelsea lightly. They’ve already secured their first UEFA Champions League title and a domestic double.

The French club is now on the brink of adding another silverware to complete a remarkable season. Enrique insisted during his pre-match press conference, “This is absolutely not going to be a simple formality. I have analysed Chelsea.”

Speaking about the the Blues’ threat, he added, “They have great players, and Enzo Maresca is a coach I love. They are a very complete team – physically strong, technically gifted, and tactically sound. It will be a very even game and a very difficult one.”

Luis Enrique: ‘No Superstars, Only Eleven Stars’

Enrique has been credited for transforming PSG into a cohesive unit. However, he dismissed suggestions of individual brilliance being the key to their success. He said, “A team is 11 stars, that’s football. We don’t want one, we want 11, or 13, 14, 15. The real star should be the entire team.”

He also downplayed his own role in the club’s historic run. When asked if he felt like the star of the season, the coach replied, “I’m not a star. I wasn’t as a player, and I’m not as a coach. I enjoy my job, especially the hard moments. That’s when I have to really work.”

Coach Urges to Focus on History, Not Hype

The Spanish tactician praised Chelsea’s progress under Maresca. He reminded everyone Chelsea’s fourth-place Premier League finish and UEFA Conference League win, saying, “Chelsea are growing a lot. They’re complete, aggressive, and always look to attack. It’s important that we are 100% focused to round off this historic season.”

Additionally, Enrique also acknowledged PSG’s dominant displays in the competition. They won 4-0 against Real Madrid in the semi-final. Even so, he reminded his players that finals are rarely predictable, saying, “There is a winner and a loser. The loser doesn’t necessarily do anything wrong. We will give our all and see which prize we get.”

The French side now have the chance to lift the Club World Cup trophy and secure their place in history as world champions. Ahead of such an significant clash, Enrique made his objective clear, “We want to finish this season in the best possible way and open the next chapter of winning more major trophies.”
