Liverpool Plot Fresh Move for Alexander Isak As Tensions Rise With Newcastle

Newcastle United are preparing for another bid from Liverpool for star striker Alexander Isak. Newcastle are expecting Liverpool’s renewed interest in Isak to intensify after the Magpies’ Premier League clash on Monday night. Isak’s future has been one of the defining sagas of the summer and Newcastle believe the 24-year-old has been deliberately unsettled as Liverpool attempt to prise him away from St James’ Park.

The Magpies rejected an earlier £110m offer from Liverpool for Isak, a figure they deemed far below their valuation. Meanwhile, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe feels the situation has been engineered to push Isak towards forcing a move away from Newcastle.

Isak Transfer Saga Adds Spice to Newcastle United vs Liverpool Clash

The Alexander Isak transfer saga is also rooted in the tug of war over Hugo Ekitike earlier this summer. Newcastle had long identified the France striker as a key target and natural successor to Isak, only for Liverpool to enter the race at the last minute. At St James’ Park, there is suspicion Liverpool’s interest was designed to complicate their plans.

Liverpool, however, insist their approach for Ekitike was separate and had been undergoing since May, with Arne Slot an admirer long before Newcastle accelerated their move. Isak is not expected to feature for Newcastle on Monday and the uncertainty surrounding his future adds extra spice to an already high-stakes fixture. For Eddie Howe’s side, losing their star striker at this stage would be a major blow, and their priority remains securing their long-standing summer target regardless of Liverpool’s actions.

Although Liverpool’s stance was initially that they would not return with another offer, Newcastle believe a second bid before the transfer deadline remains a real possibility.
