Como Turn Down Tottenham’s €70M Offer for Emerging Star Nico Paz

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Argentine star Nico Paz has hit another roadblock. Serie A side Como have rejected Tottenham’s improved €70m offer for the 20-year-old attacking midfielder. Spurs have made Paz their top transfer target after missing out on Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, but the youngster is determined to remain in Italy this season.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, this was Tottenham’s second attempt to land Paz after their initial €40m bid earlier this month was turned down. Sky Sport reports Spurs also lodged a €50m proposal, which Como dismissed while setting their asking price at €70m.

Despite the mounting interest, Paz has no plans to leave this summer. According to reports, Paz is focused on continuing his development at Como before eventually returning to Real Madrid, who inserted a €10m buy-back option in his contract, effective from 2026.

Nico Paz Shines for Como on Opening Day in Serie A

Paz’s decision comes as he continues to impress in Serie A. In Como’s opening-day 2-0 win over Lazio, he delivered a sublime assist for Douvikas with a defense-splitting pass before sealing the victory with a stunning free-kick in the 72nd minute. His performance earned a standing ovation from the home crowd and further strengthened his reputation as one of Europe’s brightest young midfielders

Real Madrid are believed to have played a decisive role in blocking Tottenham’s €70m approach for Nico Paz. The Spanish giants see the 20-year-old as part of their long-term plans and are content with him gaining experience at Como before a likely return in 2026. Reports suggest his move back to the Bernabeu could be accelerated as early as next summer, with Los Blancos expected to bring him in ahead of schedule.

Notably, the midfielder’s rise has not gone unnoticed at international level either. Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has called him up for the national team’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September, offering Paz a chance to make his senior debut.
