LeBron James honors Los Angeles firefighters with a heartwarming gesture during Lakers vs. Spurs game

The 40-year-old Lakers star honour the Los Angeles Fire Department with a heartwarming gesture.

In the return of the Los Angeles Lakers to the court, star LeBron James honoured the Los Angeles Fire Department. The basketball icon placed the initials “L.A.F.D.” (Los Angeles Fire Department) on his shoes during the game against the San Antonio Spurs. The game took place on Monday (13) and was the Lakers’ first after horrific Los Angeles wildfires.

The 40-year-old Lakers star has been wearing the “Nike LeBron 22” throughout this NBA season and always writes the initials of his family. However, this time, he chose to include the initials of the department responsible for battling the wildfires.

Meanwhile, the Lakers also kick started a week-long donation drive to collect essentials to benefit those impacted by the wildfires. The donation drive will continue during Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat and Friday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.

According to the BBC, the tragedy has already claimed at least 24 lives, and the flames may continue to spread in the coming days. However, the good news is that firefighters have managed to contain 14% of the fires in Palisades and 33% in Eaton, the area where most of the deaths occurred.
