Doncic has been sidelined since Christmas Day.
The Dallas Mavericks have been struggling without their star players, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. While Irving returned after missing five games, he couldn’t stop the Mavericks from suffering their fourth loss in the last six games.
Doncic has been sidelined since Christmas Day. The 25-year-old guard injured his left calf during a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. An MRI later confirmed a calf strain, and he has not played since.
But there’s good news for Mavericks fans. TNT reporter Jared Greenberg has shared an update that brings hope. Greenberg reports that the Mavericks are confident Doncic will return before the All-Star break.
The All-Star game will take place on Sunday, February 16, at the Chase Center in San Francisco, home of the Golden State Warriors. The second second fan returns of NBA All-Star voting was released last week, with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic leading their respective conferences.
Luka Doncic is currently 12th in the list of the overall voting results. He is behind Stephen Curry with 1,344,205 votes. The final returns will be announced on January 16.
This year, the All-Star event will feature a new format. Instead of the usual team captains, there will be a mini-tournament with four teams playing in three games. The starters for the All-Star Game will be revealed on January 23.
