Lance Stroll grabs unwanted attention for setting a new record!
Lance Stroll is a long-time driver in F1. The Canadian drives for Aston Martin F1 Racing in the 2025 season. He joined Williams in 2017 achieving his first podium in Azerbaijan. Since then, Lance Stroll has mostly spent his F1 career remaining uncompetitive and as a backmarker. His best season was the 2020 season, where he finished in 11th place in the drivers’ standings.
Lance Stroll was able to win two podiums and score 75 points in 2020. Since then, Stroll has returned to his previous status of being a backmarker. He has experience with two world champions at Aston Martin. Ever since his father has taken ownership in Aston Martin F1, Stroll has been a permanent part of F1 and Aston Martin.

In his time in Formula 1, Lance Stroll is consistently outclassed by his teammates. He is often lagging behind his teammates and unable to defeat them in either race of qualifying. The gap between him and his teammates was more clearly visible in 2023. Compared to Fernando Alonso’s podium spree, Stroll could only manage a 10th place finish in the driver standings with a best finish of 5th in the race.
In the world of Formula 1, where creating and breaking records is as common as winning a race, there are some records which aren’t exciting enough to mention. Stroll has fallen into the same zone this weekend.
Lance Stroll’s weekend at Jeddah Corniche Circuit is not going particularly well. Stroll was eliminated out of Qualifying in the first session of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2025. He finished 16th in the Q1 session of Saudi Arabin GP Qualifying. He will starting race in a terrible position for Aston Martin. The team has not shown any hint of pace or better performance in 2025.

Stroll’s elimination in Q1 was his 75 Q1 elimination in his career as a F1 driver. He now holds the unfortunate record of being the Formula 1 driver with most career eliminations in Q1. Stroll has participated in 174 races throughout eight years of his F1 career.
Stroll’s new record did not appeal to him quite well. When asked about this unfortunate incident, Stroll dryly replied claiming-
“If you put the McLaren drivers in a Sauber for 10 years, then they will have the most Q1 exits.”
Stroll has not made any Q3 starts this season even though he has better finishes that Fernando Alonso. He is the sole points finisher for Aston Martin this season. Adrian Newey’s non-involvement in the 2025 Aston Martin project is also big hurdle for the team if they want to upgrade their car for the season.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
