Kawhi Leonard-led Clippers set new win-margin record with blowout win over Nets

It was a horror night for Nets who suffered their worst loss in franchise's history.

The Los Angeles Clippers made history on Wednesday night, setting a new franchise record for largest margin of victory with a landslide 126-67 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

The Clippers’ 59-point win shattered their previous record of a 50-point victory over Oklahoma City in 2022. Their defense was relentless, and their offense, led by Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, was clicking on all cylinders.

Leonard led the charge for the Clippers with 23 points, playing 24 minutes in just his fourth game back from a knee injury. Meanwhile, Harden, who has been thriving this season with Clippers, added 21 points in the blowout. The veteran, who has broken multiple records this season, reached another milestone during team’s win. During the first quarter, he passed Dominique Wilkins to move into 15th place on the NBA’s all-time points list.

It was a horror night for Nets who suffered their worst loss in franchise’s history, surpassing their previous record of a 52-point defeat to Houston in 1978.

For Brooklyn, the defeat stung deeply and center Nic Claxton summed that up after the game.

“You just feel like you’re not doing your job, honestly. We’ve all got a lot of pride, so we’ve just got to be better. And we can’t lose like this, though. Definitely can’t happen”, Claxton said.

The Nets will look to bounce back quickly as they stay in Southern California to face the Lakers on Friday. Meanwhile, the Clippers head to Portland on Thursday to play Trailblazers.
