“But they kept Bronny”- Fans furious as Lakers waive Quincy Olivari

Quincy played only one game for the Los Angeles team in NBA

Lakers fans were left shocked after the team waived Quincy Olivari to reportedly sign former Pelicans center Trey Jemison to a two-way contract. Olivari impressed during the preseason and Summer League, earning praise from fans and even his idol Stephen Curry.

Olivari, who played only one game for the Los Angeles team in NBA, had been playing well in the G League, averaging 7.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Lakers are looking to add more frontcourt physicality, which led them to pick Jemison. Over 41 career NBA games, Jemison has averaged 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds.

Fans react to Lakers decision to waive Quincy Olivari

Fans were quick to direct their backlash toward the Lakers front office and LeBron James’ son, Bronny James. Many lashed out at team’s decision to let go of a potential star while Bronny, who has had limited impact in the NBA so far, remains on the roster.

Check out some reactions:

Bronny, drafted 55th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, has only played nine games this season, averaging 0.4 points, 0.1 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game. In the G League with the South Bay Lakers, he has shown more promise, averaging 14.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.

Notably, this is not the first time Bronny James has come under criticism. On the New Heights podcast with NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce, LeBron talked about the constant hate his son faces on social media.

“I didn’t have to deal with the social-media trolls either, growing up,” LeBron said. “And I didn’t have to deal with my father being this fu**ing guy that’s on a pedestal.”

“I think it’s gonna make him to be even greater, because having to deal with all of the things that he’s dealing with and still being able to come back from a life-threatening situation and still have the motivation,” the 4-time MVP added.
