Joel Embiid Injury Update: 76ers star sustains injury setback with knee ailment

Joel Embiid will be re-evaluated in 7 to 10 days and will receive treatment to address swelling in his left knee.

Philadelphia 76ers faced a major setback ahead of the crucial three-game road trip as the NBA All-Star Joel Embiid faced a swelling in his left knee. The Sixers star will complete his treatment in the coming days.

Philadelphia 76ers stated on Friday: “Joel Embiid participated in an on-court workout on Thursday after missing the last six games due to a left foot sprain. While the foot sprain has healed, Embiid experienced an increase in swelling in his left knee following the workout.

“After consulting with team medical staff and external doctors, Embiid will receive treatment in the coming days to address the swelling. As a result, he will be out for the upcoming road trip and will be re-evaluated in approximately 7-10 days.”

It could be a huge setback for the struggling Philadelphia 76ers, who posted a 15-24 record, and positioned 11th in the Eastern Conference.

How long will he be sidelined due to injury?

Joel Embiid will be re-evaluated in 7 to 10 days and will receive treatment to address swelling in his left knee. The NBA All-Star will miss Philadelphia’s next three games against the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Denver Nuggets.

Embiid’s entire season has been frustrating as the 2022-23 MVP participated in only 13 games due to a string of injuries. The 30-year-old missed the first nine games and added seven more in late November. Before the left knee injury, he endured a six-game absence.

Joel Embiid is averaging 24.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game this season. His shooting percentage of 45.2% is the lowest of his career. His inconsistent run and poor form are hurting the 76ers, who have to play extra-ordinary to keep their hopes alive for the playoffs.
