Sinner and Atmane faced one another just over a month ago, when the Italian ran riot. Until the US Open 2025 final, Sinner was on top of the ATP Rankings. The 24-year-old won the Australian Open to start the season, before returning after a three-month break to reach back-to-back finals in Rome and Roland Garros. After a short grass court season culminated in a Wimbledon triumph, two more finals losses vs Alcaraz at Cincinnati and New York resulted in a 38-5 record for Sinner. The Italian now has over 300 career singles wins, including a straight sets victory over Cilic in R1.

A flashy southpaw from Northern France, Atmane made his tour-level debut at the age of 21. The World No. 68 has played just 13 main draw matches this year – winning 7 of them. His breakout performance came at the 2025 Cincinnati Masters, where victories over the likes of Cobolli, Fonseca, Fritz and Rune took him all the way to the final four stage. This week, he has come from qualifying and reached the Round of 16 without dropping a set. Atmane’s success rate on his own service games is 76% this year, and he has converted 35% break points to go with it.
Jannik Sinner leads the head-to-head against Terence Atmane by 1-0. He defeated him in the semifinals of the 2025 Cincinnati Masters in straight sets.

Sinner produced a groundstroke masterclass in his match-up against former Grand Slam champion Cilic. To back it up, he also added variety to his game by throwing in some slices, body serves and neutral forehands. The key change that Atmane needs to make is less tactical and more mental – the left-hander needs to give up the respect and admiration he has for Sinner. In Cincinnati, he seemingly was there just to take part and lacked the killer instinct. Keep an eye on second serve points won, which will be a vital statistic on Saturday.
Prediction: Jannik Sinner in straight sets.
On paper, Jannik Sinner has the odds in his favor ahead of the pre-quarterfinal against underdog Atmane in Beijing. The Italian’s chances of winning are double that of his opponent. According to the money line, Sinner has a 91-9 edge to emerge victorious (as per BetMGM):
