Sinner enters Turin battle as heavy favorite against resurgent Auger-Aliassime
Second seed Jannik Sinner is set to clash with eighth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime at the 2025 ATP Finals. Now, world No. 1 Sinner has defined the year with his exceptional level, reaching nine finals and winning five titles, remarkably, all after serving a three-month doping ban earlier in the season. His trophies came in Melbourne, Wimbledon, Beijing, Vienna, and most recently Paris, along with runner-up finishes in Rome, Roland Garros, Cincinnati, and the US Open, all losses to Carlos Alcaraz.
It’s also worth noting that Sinner was forced to retire in Cincinnati due to heat-related exhaustion, the same issue that ended his Shanghai run. Aside from those two retirements, Halle stands as his lone early exit of the year. Statistically, he’s been dominant with 364 aces, 79% first-serve points won, 34% return points won, and a 45% break-point conversion rate across 521 chances.

Auger-Aliassime’s road to Turin was far more dramatic. He wouldn’t have qualified at all had Lorenzo Musetti won his match in Athens, but he didn’t, and that opened the door for the Canadian. FAA’s season features titles in Adelaide, Open Occitanie, and Brussels, achieved even with injuries that repeatedly stunted his momentum through the spring. Toe and back issues forced withdrawals from Rotterdam, Rome, and Basel, yet he still produced a finals run in Dubai and semifinal appearances in Doha, Hamburg, and the US Open.
Most recently, he surged to the Paris Masters final before falling to Sinner in straight sets. Stat-wise, Auger-Aliassime brings heavier serving numbers with 749 aces, 77% first-serve points won, 30% return points won, and a 33% break-point conversion rate across 523 chances.

Jannik Sinner currently leads Felix Auger-Aliassime 3-2 in their official head-to-head. Their first clash came in Madrid in 2022, where the Canadian took a straight-sets win. He backed it up later that summer in Cincinnati with a gritty comeback, giving him early control of the matchup.
Their next encounter came in Madrid in 2024, but Sinner’s withdrawal with a right-hip injury turned it into a walkover, so it doesn’t count toward the official record. Since then, the momentum has swung completely. Sinner has ripped off three consecutive wins this season in Cincinnati, the US Open, and most recently Paris, seizing command of the rivalry.
| Year | Event | Round | Winner | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | Paris | Final | Jannik Sinner | 6-4, 7-6(4) |
| 2025 | US Open | Semifinal | Jannik Sinner | 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 |
| 2025 | Cincinnati | Quarterfinal | Jannik Sinner | 6-0, 6-2 |
| 2024 | Madrid | Quarterfinal | Felix Auger-Aliassime | W/O |
| 2022 | Cincinnati | Round of 16 | Felix Auger-Aliassime | 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-1 |
| 2022 | Madrid | Round of 16 | Felix Auger-Aliassime | 6-1, 6-2 |
| Jannik Sinner | Category | Felix Auger-Aliassime |
| 1 | Current Ranking | 8 |
| 316-86 | Career W-L | 263-169 |
| 53-6 | YTD W-L | 48-22 |
| 23 | Career Titles | 8 |
| 4 | Grand Slams | 0 |
| 5 | YTD Titles | 3 |
Momentum, maturity, and mastery tilt this rivalry firmly toward Sinner, but FAA’s chaotic road to Turin and revived confidence make him dangerous if he catches fire early. Still, Sinner’s composure in big moments and his airtight pattern should carry him through.
