Coach Kompany Gives an Emotional Update After Musiala’s Devastating Exit in the Club World Cup Clash.

Bayern Munich’s FIFA Club World Cup journey ended with a 2-0 quarterfinal defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. However, they were hit with a bigger blow which came just before halftime when Jamal Musiala was stretchered off with a horrific and suspected serious injury.

The 22-year-old midfielder collided awkwardly with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma while chasing a loose ball. Following the collision, he was left clutching his left ankle in agony. The state of his ankle looked extremely dangerous at first glance.

Giving updates on Musiala’s injury, famous journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that the German could be out for several months. Stating the cause of injury in his report, Romano said: “Jamal Musiala has broken his left fibula and damaged several ligaments, reports BILD. Musiala will likely be out for 4-5 months.”

Vincent Kompany Speaks Up on the Injury

Musiala’s teammates and even opposition players looked distressed as medical staff rushed to his aid. Speaking to DAZN after the match, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany shared his concerns about the extent of the injury. He still isn’t sure about the extent of the injury.

However, he still hoped for the best and said, “He [Musiala] had to go to hospital, and it didn’t look good. The overwhelming feeling is that I hope it’s not as bad as it looks, and that he will get through this one.” Musiala had only recently returned from a torn muscle bundle.

That one had already kept him out for several weeks. His comeback had been impressive. It was highlighted by a hat-trick in Bayern’s opening 10-0 victory against Auckland City. However, his latest setback threatens to keep him sidelined for no one knows how long again.

Kompany added, “It’s the second setback in a very short time. He’s a player that loves football – it’s his life. It will hit hard, but he’s going to come back stronger. Hopefully, he’ll lift trophies with Bayern next season.” According to Sky Germany, early reports suggest Musiala may have fractured his fibula. However, a definitive diagnosis will only come after further medical examinations.

Words of Support from Opposition and Team

The incident sparked an outpouring of support from his own team and players from the opposition. PSG’s Ousmane Dembele, who scored a decisive – the second goal for the French side, said, “Shout out to Jamal Musiala. It’s something you don’t want to see on the field.” Achraf Hakimi added, “We hope to see him back on the pitch soon.”

Kompany admitted the injury left him angry and emotional. He iterated, “For these young players, football is everything. Someone like Jamal lives for this. Now all we can do is wait and support him.” As Bayern’s Club World Cup campaign ends, players will leave for their much-needed vacation. Meanwhile, even though Musiala’s recovery timeline remains uncertain, he will focus on recovering as soon as possible.
