Miami Open 2025 champ chases 2nd Masters title!
Two seeded stars are set to lock horns when Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik battles former Wimbledon semifinalist Hubert Hurkacz at the 2025 Italian Open on Tuesday. With a last eight spot at stake, only one player can progress in this heavy-hitting Round of 16 clash on Super Tennis Arena. Who will make the big moves?
Since he won the Miami Masters in March, Jakub Mensik has gone on a 5-2 run on clay. The 19-year-old started the year on a strong note by upsetting top seed Ben Shelton at the ASB Classic, and No. 6 seed Casper Ruud at the Australian Open. Mensik has beaten home favourite Matteo Gigante and Fabian Marozsan en route to the Round of 16. Winning over 76% first serves in his career, the Czech prodigy will rely strongly on this weapon on Tuesday.
28-year-old Hubert Hurkacz is yet to reach a final in 2025. The Polish star has been battling injuries and some consistency in form for numerous months now. He has a 7-5 record this year – a semifinal finish in Rotterdam happens to be his best performance so far. Hurkacz has beaten Pedro Martinez and Marcos Giron in order to confirm his match-up against Mensik.
Hubert Hurkacz leads the head to head against Jakub Mensik by 1-0. Their only meeting came at the Grand Slam level.

Considering Mensik’s current form, he starts as the favourite in this match. Czechia’s future Grand Slam hope defeated the likes of Ben Shelton and Alexander Bublik in Madrid, and has been serving very well at the Italian capital. Provided he maintains a high first serve percentage, Mensik has the ability to outhit Hurkacz in baseline exchanges.
Prediction: Jakub Mensik in three sets.
Jakub Mensik Win: -250
Hubert Hurkacz Win: +200
