The 2025 Italian Open has reached the round of 16 stage on the men’s ATP tour, and with that, we have been treated to some fantastic matches. Local favorite Jannik Sinner hasn’t missed a beat after 3 months out of action, and most of the top seeds are still in the draw.

Having said that, 4th seed Taylor Fritz was dealt a shocking straight-sets loss, while Barcelona Open champion Holger Rune lost a tough 3-setter in the round of 32.

The round of 16 at the 2025 Italian Open still features 8 of the top 10 players on the men’s circuit, which means we will be witnessing some classic matches today.

Carlos Alcaraz (3) vs. Karen Khachanov

The World number 3 continues his sensational form on clay as he takes on Karen Khachanov to begin the proceedings for the day. The Spaniard holds a dominant 4-0 record against his Russian counterpart, with three of those wins coming on clay.

Jack Draper (5) vs. Corentin Moutet

The number 5 seed, Jack Draper, will get the other match underway, scheduled for the same time against France’s Corentin Moutet. Draper continues his solid showing in the clay season after reaching the final in Madrid, while Moutet is fresh off a win against Holger Rune from the previous round.

Hubert Hurkacz is matched up with Jakub Mensik in his round of 16 clash today. Both players haven’t been at their best recently, although Mensik did make it to the quarterfinals in Madrid.

Lorenzo Musetti (8) vs. Daniil Medvedev (10)

Lorenzo Musetti takes on Daniil Medvedev later in the day. The Italian has been on a tear during the clay season, reaching the final at Monte Carlo, where he lost to Alcaraz, followed by a semifinal run in Madrid. Medvedev, on the other hand, hasn’t been able to go past the quarterfinals on clay this year.

Frenchman Arthur Fils and German Alexander Zverev will continue their rivalry that has seen 5 matches already. While Zverev leads the head-to-head 3-2, Fils has had decent performances recently.
