Jake Paul Eyes Backup Plan As Gervonta Davis Fight Hits Major Roadblock

Jake Paul has built his boxing career on spectacle and controversy. The YouTube star turned professional fighter knows how to generate buzz and sell pay-per-views. His November 14 bout against Gervonta Davis was supposed to be his biggest test yet. Davis is a legitimate two-division world champion with serious knockout power and technical skills.

For Paul, it represented a chance to prove he belongs among elite boxers and silence critics who dismiss him as a celebrity sideshow. The fight was set to stream on Netflix, continuing Paul’s partnership with the streaming giant.

But boxing rarely goes according to plan, especially when legal troubles enter the picture. A lawsuit filed in Miami-Dade County has thrown the entire event into chaos. Most Valuable Promotions, which promotes Paul’s fights, immediately launched an investigation after learning about the lawsuit on October 30. They released a statement saying they are gathering information and reviewing details before making any decisions.

Jake Paul’s Team Reaches Out To Ryan Garcia And Other Big Names

According to some sources from Sports Illustrated, Jake Paul’s representatives have already made an offer to Ryan Garcia (24-2) for a potential December fight. Garcia is one of boxing’s biggest stars with over twelve million Instagram followers. He stunned Devin Haney in 2024, knocking him down three times to win by majority decision. That result got overturned to a no-contest after Garcia tested positive for Ostarine following the fight. Garcia returned last May but lost a decision to Rolando Romero.

Garcia has history with Paul too. He called out the YouTube star after Paul’s victory over Mike Tyson and has publicly pushed for a showdown multiple times. That existing rivalry combined with Garcia’s massive social media appeal makes him a compelling option for both Paul and Netflix.

Paul’s team isn’t putting all their eggs in one basket either. They have been canvassing the boxing world for marketable opponents who could step in on short notice. Anthony Joshua’s name has been discussed, which would be absolutely massive given his status as a former heavyweight champion. Terence Crawford, the undisputed super middleweight champion who defeated Canelo Alvarez in September, has also been mentioned as a possibility. Both fighters would bring enormous credibility and PPV appeal, though getting either on such short notice seems like a longshot.

The Serious Allegations Against Gervonta Davis

The lawsuit that derailed everything came from Courtney Rossel, who filed her complaint in Miami-Dade County. She accused Davis of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The alleged incident occurred at a Miami-area nightclub. These are extremely serious charges that go far beyond typical civil disputes. If proven true, they paint a disturbing picture of violent and criminal behavior.

Unfortunately for Davis, this isn’t his first brush with legal trouble. His career has been plagued by multiple incidents and arrests throughout the years. Last summer, he was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an alleged domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend, though those charges were eventually dropped. The pattern of accusations and legal problems surrounding Davis has become impossible to ignore.

Despite being one of boxing’s most bankable stars and a legitimate champion, his future now looks murkier than ever. The Paul fight was supposed to be a massive payday and career highlight. Instead, it might be completely scrapped as Davis deals with potentially career-ending legal consequences.
