Maple Leafs' Jake McCabe to Miss Monday's Game Against Blackhawks at Scotiabank Arena Due to Safety Measures
Coach Craig Berube stated that Jake McCabe will be unavailable for the Maple Leafs’ game against the Chicago Blackhawks at Scotiabank Arena on Monday for safety measures.
The defenseman exited a 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday at 14:41 in the second period after being struck in the head by a puck.
“Day to day, but I think he’ll be fine,” Berube mentioned.
McCabe was substituted by Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who teamed up with Chris Tanev during the morning skate. Philippe Myers will join the lineup alongside Morgan Rielly. He will participate in his second game of the season, marking his first appearance since Oct. 26. In 23 games, McCabe has recorded five assists and has a plus-11 rating, averaging 21:20 of ice time.

Defenseman Marshall Rifai was brought up from Toronto of the American Hockey League on Monday, but he is not likely to participate in the game.
Forwards Max Domi and Max Pacioretty both took part in the morning skate, but they will not be in the game. Domi, absent from the last four games, is “near” to coming back from a lower-body injury, according to Berube.
“He skated well today, He’ll push it more tomorrow (at practice) and then we’ll see where he’s at.” : Berube said.
Pacioretty (lower body), currently on long-term injured reserve, has been absent for the last seven games.
“A little bit a ways away yet,” Berube stated.
Defenseman Jani Hakanpaa (lower body), who has been out for the last four games, was put on injured reserve retroactively starting Nov. 16. Hakanpaa has participated in just two matches this season, debuting on Nov. 13 after having arthroscopic knee surgery in the offseason.
Forward David Kampf (lower body), currently on long-term injured reserve, skated before the morning practice. He cannot come back until December 14.

nhl I’ve always loved writing and storytelling, and hockey gives me a perfect stage for endless stories to tell. Whether it’s breaking down a game, analyzing a big trade, or capturing the emotions on the ice, I bring the NHL to life through words. So what’s the best part you ask? Watching the action unfold and turning it into something fans can connect with. To my readers: Hockey is more than just a game—it’s the highs, the heartbreaks, and the moments that make us jump off our seats. So, keep cheering, keep debating, and never stop loving the madness of the sport!
