If you ask who are some of the best fighters in the UFC today, Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria are pretty much the obvious answers. Both these fighters are champions and have conquered their respective weight class. So what’s next for these two? Well for Topuria, there are rumors that he could take on Volkanovski again. Meanwhile for Makhachev, many sources say that he has a lot of options in the table for him but does not know who to pick next. He’s gotten one offer to fight in his own division and another against Topuria himself.

During an interview with Match TV, Islam said that the timing to take on Topuria is not right and does not want to take him on currently. While he may have a lot of patience, Topuria is ready to go! Topuria has been constantly hounding Makhachev with tweets and threats for months, Ilia feels confident that he can defeat the Lightweight champ and finish him off with either his punch or make him tap out. Even Dana White, President of UFC, has stated that he is working on a fight that the fans will “Never F***ing see coming,” by the time fall comes around. So is that what White wants to surprise us with? Topuria vs Makhachev? Because currently we do see it coming very soon.

Topuria has now sent a message again, aimed at Makhachev. Let’s see what he had to say this time.

Topuria has been teasing UFC fans for a while now. In January he sent out a tweet which says “Islam, if I want to, I can finish you. If I want to, I can knock you out. I’ll make it look easy. See you soon.”

Now, Topuria is back at it again and this time he sent his message via Full Send Podcast. He said “We all know at some point, I will connect that punch,” Ilia continued “And everything will depend on what God will decide. If he wants to send Islam to sleep or not, who knows that? I know that.”

Topuria goes on with “I represent the new generation of Mixed Martial Arts… They used to say ‘I’m gonna take you to the deep water.’ I was born in the deep water. Take me whereever you want to take me.”

We still do not know when or if the fight will take place between the two. If it does, it’ll be one of the biggest fights ever, in UFC history. However, everything depends on Dana White and a re-fight between Topuria and Volkanovski could be next, instead of Topuria vs Makhachev. Even though there is a lot of anticipation for the fight between the two champs, we’ll have to wait and see if the fight will acutally go down.
