“Disappointment Of A Champion” – Ilia Topuria Delivers Harsh Verdict On UFC 322 Main Event Performances

Social media has given fighters direct access to millions of fans instantly. No need for press conferences or scheduled interviews anymore. They can fire off opinions the moment fights end. Some stay quiet and respectful while others can’t resist throwing shade. Ilia Topuria falls firmly into that second category without question.

The Georgian-Spanish fighter loves talking trash on Twitter constantly. He’s called out practically everyone in his division and beyond. His confidence borders on arrogance depending on who you ask. But he backs it up inside the octagon with knockout power. Now, he has taken aim on the UFC 322 main event fighters.

Ilia Topuria Sends A Brutal Tweet At Jack Della Maddalena And Islam Makhachev

Topuria didn’t waste any time sharing his thoughts after the main event. He fired off a tweet that quickly went viral across MMA social media. The lightweight champion had some seriously harsh words for both fighters. But Jack Della Maddalena caught the worst of it initially.

“Jack needs an entire camp dedicated just to wrestling. What a disappointment of a champion. You should go to Georgia to learn something.”

That’s pretty savage considering Della Maddalena just lost his belt. The Australian had no answers for Makhachev’s grappling whatsoever. He spent most of the fight on his back getting controlled. But Topuria wasn’t done roasting people just yet obviously. He saved his biggest shots for Islam Makhachev himself.

“Islam, you need something you can’t train: emotion. You’re the most boring thing in this game.Every day I’m more certain I put you to sleep,”

That’s maximum disrespect toward a guy who just became a two-division champion. Makhachev (28-1) tied Anderson Silva’s record with 16 consecutive UFC victories. He dominated every single round against a dangerous knockout artist. Yet Topuria called the whole performance boring and emotionless.

Fans are calling for a fight between these two. But Makhachev hasn’t shown much interest in returning to lightweight though. He just won the welterweight belt and called for the White House card. Fighting at 170 pounds suits him perfectly right now. Why would he cut back down to face Topuria?

But the UFC loves big money superfights between champions. Topuria vs Makhachev would do massive PPV numbers. The trash talk only makes it more marketable. Maybe Islam eventually gets bored dominating welterweights and accepts the challenge. Until then, Topuria will keep firing shots on X.
