Arguably the strongest competitor at the start of the season, Madison Keys’ level partly went down in the second half of the year. The 30-year-old won the ASB Classic and Australian Open back-to-back, after which she reached the semifinal at Indian Wells. Currently ranked No. 7 in the world, Keys has not put together a noteworthy outing since entering the final four at Queen’s Club. She has won 61% points on serve and converted 43% break points so far.

Madison Keys does not have the necessary match practice under her belt, and might struggle to find her footing. Moreover, Swiatek can exert a stranglehold over the encounter in the early stages. Expect the Polish sensation to race ahead at the beginning – courtesy some fierce groundstrokes from corner to corner. A high first serve percentage and forehand accuracy will be imperative for the American to stand a chance.
Prediction: Iga Swiatek in straight sets.
