Ibrahima Konaté open to Madrid but focused on Liverpool stay

Ibrahima Konaté remains the subject of interest from Real Madrid as he enters the final year of his Liverpool contract. But despite the lure of Spain, well-placed sources suggest his primary focus is to renew with the Merseyside club — if the terms are right.

Renewal remains the priority for Konaté
Liverpool journalist David Lynch reported via Sports Mole that conversations with individuals close to Konaté indicate the Frenchman is not pushing for a move away. Unlike former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold — who ran down his deal before joining Madrid — Konaté is not “desperate to get out.” The 26-year-old centre-back is reportedly waiting for a contract proposal that reflects his importance to the team, something that hasn’t yet materialised. Currently earning around £80,000 per week, his camp is seeking a jump to roughly £200,000 — which would put him among the club’s top earners.

Guehi pursuit may shape Liverpool’s next move
Liverpool are also keeping tabs on Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who is seen as either a replacement or reinforcement depending on how the Konaté situation unfolds. Guehi’s contract, like Konaté’s, is set to expire next summer. Whether the club is preparing for life without Konaté or simply adding depth to Arne Slot’s defensive core, the Palace captain’s availability adds a layer of urgency to negotiations with their current No. 5.
