The whole controversial sequence started during the second quarter with 8:13 left. San Antonio center Victor Wembanyama fell to the floor and referee Jenna Schroeder called technical fouls on Sixers center Andre Drummond. This foul led to his ejection despite making no contacts with Wembanyama.
The Philadelphia center made his way back to the locker room but a review of the play allowed him to make a return. The referee accepted that she was wrong to call a second technical foul on him and the foul on Drummond was reversed.
76ers fans cheered for Andre Drummond when he made a dramatic comeback from the Wells Fargo Center’s tunnel. However, the referee Jenna Schroeder was feeling the heat of the game. Philadelphia’s coach lost his cool after giving a foul on Drummond and he asked for a review. “I f****d up,” the referee can be heard telling Nick Nurse on the sidelines.
