Future face of the NBA? Ja Morant beats Steph Curry, KD to become second most-viewed player across NBA socials

Morant is making a serious push to be the face of the league.

For the past decade, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant have been the faces of the NBA. Their iconic plays, rivalry matchups have kept fans glued to screens, while helping grow the league’s global following. But with these legends at the twilight of their career, many fans and pundits have raised the same concern: Who will be the face of NBA once they are gone?

The answer seems to be emerging from the new generation of stars, and one name in particular is rising fast – Ja Morant.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ young superstar is considered one of the most acrobatic player in the league currently. Whether it’s his 360 degrees layup, or his insane poster dunks or even his airborne block, Morant’s highlight reels are quickly becoming the fan favourites, and now the numbers back it up.

As per NBA Communications, Morant is now the second most-viewed player across NBA social media platforms for the 2024-25 season.

With a staggering 538 million views, he has surpassed the likes of Stephen Curry, Victor Wembanyama to take the second spot. LeBron James remains at the top, with an impressive 623 million views, but Morant is making a serious push to be the face of the league.

While Ja Morant is taking over the social media, the NBA is still reluctant to show Morant and the Grizzlies on national television. Despite the team’s success, many of their games are still not getting the attention they deserve on major networks.

“The NBA not putting him and the Memphis Grizzlies on national TV is a disservice to the fans”, one fan wrote on X.

“We lambasted the Warriors by 51, went to ATL and beat the Hawks, are one of only 4 teams in the league with 20+ wins… and when was the last time we had a segment on ESPN??”, another fan pointed out.

The Grizzlies are third seeded in Western Conference standings with a 20-10 record. They will next face Toronto Raptors on Boxing Day.
