‘I Believe Mike Tomlin Should Coach in Another Organization’ – NFL Analyst Claims Steelers Head Coach Should Step Away

The Pittsburgh Steelers have achieved quite a bit of success under long term head coach Mike Tomlin. The Steelers who are one of the storied franchises in the NFL added one more Championship under Tomlin when they won Super Bowl XLIII against the Arizona Cardinals.

Having said that, the Steelers have not been in a Super Bowl since 2010, and the last time they played in the AFC Championship game was back in 2016. For the past few seasons, even though Pittsburgh has made it to the postseason consistently, they have lacked they haven’t seemed like a team that could go deep in the playoffs.

ESPN Analyst Ryan Clark’s 2-Cents on Mike Tomlin

During a discussion on ESPN’s First Take, analyst and former NFL player, Ryan Clark chimed in with the opinion that Mike Tomlin should step away from the Steelers.

“I say this and people get mad at me, I believe that Mike Tomlin is unfireable. I believe if Mike Tomlin steps away from being the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers that, that should be his decision and I’ve said time and time again, I do believe that should be the decision he makes.”

Clark believes that Tomlin’s records as the head coach in the Steel City make it almost impossible to be fired, but the time has come for the 53-year-old to look for a change of scenery. He has achieved everything that he could in Pittsburgh and that things are unlikely to get better any time soon, especially with the quarterback question looming largely over the head.

I believe Mike Tomlin should coach in another organization, Mike Tomlin should be a fresh voice somewhere else because I believe as great as a coach he is, and he’s a first ballot hall of famer, I believe his voice has run stale there. I believe he’s allowed that team to reach the highest of heights they’re going to reach unless they can get a top tier quarterback.”

Clark has been vocal about this issue for some time now, and he feels strongly about the fact that Tomlin can achieve greater things in the league, but just not with the Steelers anymore.

Mike Tomlin’s Record With the Steelers

Tomlin joined the Steelers in 2007 and has remained the head coach of the team ever since. Winning the Super Bowl with the Steelers in the 2008 season is without a doubt the highlight of his career; however, there is one more stat that ranks high up in the list of head coaching credentials.

Tomlin, who has been at the position for 18 years, has never had a losing season. One more season of similar success will put him on even terms with the great Bill Belichick and just 2 behind another legendary figure of the league, Tom Landry. It’s safe to say that Tomlin is in rarefied and great company. The question is, can he still lead the Steelers to glory again, or should he look at other options?
