The Pittsburgh Steelers entered last season with an overhaul at the quarterback room. They signed Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to one-year deals and let them battle it out in training camp and preseason. Although Wilson earned the starting role, he was injured and Fields took his place under center. The Steelers lacked offensive weapons with wideout George Pickens being the only reliable pass catcher.
Fields led the team to a 4-2 record during the 6 weeks he was the starter. Once Wilson returned in week 8, he led the Steelers to a 6-5 record. Despite making the playoffs, Pittsburgh never looked like they could go deep and their season came to an end in the Wild Card round against the Ravens.
Looking ahead, the Steelers have some important decisions to make and they need to make some key roster moves, especially on the offense. With nearly $60 million in cap space, Pittsburgh can afford to splash some cash, particularly since they are a part of the tough AFC North division.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2025 Season Home Games
The Pittsburgh Steelers, who play in the AFC, will have the advantage of 9 home games and 8 away games this season. Since the introduction of the 17th game in the schedule, the NFL has alternated the 9 home games between the AFC and NFC on a yearly basis. However, one of the Steelers’ home games this year will take place at the newest international venue, which is Dublin, Ireland.
3 of Pittsburgh’s home games will be against their divisional opponents, the Bengals, Browns, and Ravens. The AFC North has become one of the toughest divisions in the league, so these matches are all pretty intense.
The Steelers will play 2 home games against another AFC division and another 2 home games against an NFC division as per the league’s rotational policy. Therefore, this year the AFC North will play the AFC East and the NFC North teams with the Bengals’ home games coming against the Bills, Dolphins, Packers, and Vikings respectively.
The remaining 2 games will be against teams from other divisions that finished in second place in their respective divisions, just as the Steelers did last year. Thus, Pittsburgh will host the Colts from the AFC South and the Seahawks from the NFC West.
As for the Steelers’ away games, 3 of their 8 games will once again be divisional games against the Bengals, Browns, and Ravens. Their next 4 games on the road will be the remaining 2 games against the AFC East, which are the Patriots and Jets, and the 2 games against the NFC North teams, which are the Bears and Lions. And the last remaining game for the Steelers will be against the second-placed Chargers from the AFC West.
Pittsburgh Steelers’ Biggest Offseason Moves
A lot is happening this offseason in Pittsburgh, especially centering around the quarterback position. The Steelers are reportedly in talks with former Packer and Jet, Aaron Rodgers but nothing has materialized yet. Speaking of quarterbacks, the Steelers let both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson join other teams in free agency.
Fields joined the Jets on a 2-year, $40 million deal, while Wilson joined the Giants on a 1-year, $10.5 million contract. Running back Najee Harris signed a one-year deal with the Chargers, while left tackle Dan Moore Jr. signed a massive 4-year contract worth $82 million with the Titans. Recently, they have also traded wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys.
On the flip side, the Steelers made a huge trade with the Seahawks, acquiring wide receiver DK Metcalf to give a boost to their offense. Additionally, veteran cornerback Darius Slay was also signed to further strengthen an already solid defense.
Pittsburgh Steelers 2025 NFL Draft Picks
The Steelers, who many linked to be one of the destinations for quarterback Shedeur Sanders, passed up on the opportunity to draft him, and instead drafted Will Howard, but even that came in round 6. Apart from taking running back Kaleb Johnson in round 3, Pittsburgh’s draft was all about strengthening their defense, with defensive tackle Derrick Harmon becoming their first-round pick.
