Dana White on the edge about being conditionally invited to a wedding of a fighter!
Weddings can be expensive affairs. From venue bookings to catering and entertainment, costs quickly add up. For UFC fighters who aren’t yet making millions, this reality hits hard. Jean Silva, a rising star in the featherweight division, knows this all too well as he plans his dream church wedding with wife Carolina de Castro.
Dana White, the outspoken UFC president known for his blunt style and business savvy, has seen it all during his decades leading the organization. But even White seemed caught off guard by Jean Silva’s creative proposal for him following UFC 314.
After choking Bryce Mitchell unconscious in an impressive victory Saturday night, Silva’s mind wasn’t on title shots or his next opponent. Instead, the Brazilian fighter used his post-fight press conference to focus on wedding plans. His dream? Having famous Brazilian singer Belo perform at his ceremony. The problem? Belo’s performance fee equals roughly four UFC fight purses for Silva. So Silva came up with an unexpected solution.
“I think there was some people that came and talked to us today and after the talk that we had we might be really close. Do you guys think if I invite Dana to be my best man he’ll pay for Belo’s rate?”
For context, Belo isn’t just any singer. With nearly 5 million Instagram followers, he is a major celebrity in Brazil known for romantic ballads that make him a popular choice for weddings. His appearance fee reflects his status, putting him well beyond a typical fighter’s budget, especially one who’s still working his way up the UFC ranks.
When reporters presented this unusual offer to Dana White, his reaction was one of amusement and confusion. After clarification that he would only be paying for the singer, White’s interest seemed piqued.
“Wait a minute. He wants to marry his partner in a church, I’m the best man if I pay for it. I’m gonna need more information on this, but I’m probably in.”

Dana White’s willingness to consider the proposal shows a softer side to the often hard-nosed businessman. Throughout his career, White has developed a reputation for taking care of fighters behind the scenes, though usually for medical bills or family emergencies rather than wedding entertainment. Whether or not this unusual arrangement comes to fruition remains to be seen!
