Every time Dubois thought he was getting somewhere, Usyk would slip away and counter with precision. By the third round, those counters were clearly taking their toll on Dubois, making him more hesitant to throw punches and visibly tiring him out.

Then came the fifth round. This time, there would be no debates about low blows or referee decisions. Usyk dropped Dubois with a right hand that landed high on the head, and when the Londoner managed to get back to his feet, everyone in Wembley knew the end was near. As Dubois threw what can only be described as a desperate Hail Mary punch, Usyk timed his counter to perfection. The left hook that followed was the kind of shot that ends fights definitively. Dubois went down and stayed down, unable to beat the referee’s count. Just like that, Usyk had become a three time undisputed champion, adding this achievement to his previous undisputed reigns at cruiserweight and heavyweight.

The purse split reportedly favored Usyk significantly, which makes sense considering his status as the unified champion and pound for pound king. If the rumored 65-35 split in favor of the Ukrainian is accurate, then Usyk walked away with approximately $132.3 million for his night’s work. That’s the kind of money that buys you a small country, or at least a really nice neighborhood in one. For his part, Dubois was set to earn around $71.2 million, which isn’t exactly pocket change either. Even in defeat, the young Londoner secured what would likely be the biggest payday of his entire career!
