Anthony Davis returned to the Dallas Mavericks’ starting lineup on Monday in a 120-101 win over the Brooklyn Nets. The All-Star forward was upgraded to available and played after an 18-game absence. He brought energy to the team and the Mavs won the opener of their four-game road trip.
The former Lakers star sustained an adductor strain on Feb. 8 in his Mavs debut. He was in the recovery process and the franchise decided to assign Anthony Davis to Texas Legends of the G League. Davis pushed hard in his rehab to make a comeback for the Mavericks, who are pushing hard for the playoffs.

Mavericks started high on confidence and outscored the Nets 32-17 in the opening quarter. They didn’t drop their double-digit lead throughout the game. Naji Marshall scored a team-high 22 points for the Mavericks off the bench. Davis also recorded in double-figure in his 27-minute stay.
Anthony Davis tallied 12 points, six rebounds, three rebounds, one steal and one block while shooting 6-for-9 from the floor. Coach Jason Kidd already confirmed that Davis would be on a minutes restriction.

The 32-year-old forward had five defensive rebounds at half time and Dallas held a 62-48 lead in the game. In the second half, the 10-time All-Star tallied six points and was called to the bench.
Anthony Davis, who is averaging 25.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game in the regular season, will be out from Tuesday’s matchup against the Knicks. The Mavs will play back-to-back games so they don’t want to risk him.
