Orlando Magic handed a third straight loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, who started their four-game road trip on Monday. Franz Wagner scored 32 points and eight assists. Paolo Banchero had 30 points and seven rebounds while Anthony Black added 17 points off the bench for Orlando, who outscored the Lakers 34-18 in the third quarter to take control. Luka Doncic scored 32 points and LeBron James had 24. The Lakers had a nine-point lead at halftime. Austin Reaves contributed 17 points.
Tyrese Haliburton dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 assists, and the Indiana Pacers overcame the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-103. Haliburton made three of the Pacers’ 13 3s. Obi Toppin finished with 20 points including six 3-pointers for Indiana, who won five straight games. Six Pacers players recorded in double-figures. Naz Reid paced Minnesota with 20 points and Anthony Edwards had 17 despite a hand injury. Rudy Gobert added 16 points and 16 rebounds.
Anthony Davis made a return after an 18-game absence and brought a second straight victory for the Mavericks, who beat the Nets 120-101 on Monday. The All-Star forward scored 12 points and six rebounds. Naji Marshall dropped a team-high 22 points off the bench. P.J. Washington and Spencer Dinwiddie added 16 points each. Brandon Williams scored 15 and Kai Jones had 13. Dallas outscored Brooklyn 32-17 in the first quarter which proved costly for the Nets. Nic Claxton led Brooklyn with 19 points.
Coby White highlighted a 37-point performance and the Chicago Bulls beat the short-handed Denver Nuggets. Josh Giddey scored 26 points and nine assists. The Bulls finished a six-game road trip 4-2. Both teams were tied at 95 points heading to the fourth quarter and Chicago outplayed Denver 34-24. Jamal Murray scored 28 points and Peyton Watson dropped a career-high 24 for the Nuggets, who played their fifth straight game without Nikola Jokic.
Devin Booker’s mid-range jumper with 1.7 seconds remaining helped the Phoenix Suns beat the Milwaukee Bucks for their fourth straight win. The Suns are keeping their hopes alive to feature in the play-in tournament. Kevin Durant scored a game-high 38 points, while Booker added 19. Brook Lopez had a chance to force overtime but he missed a turnaround jumper at the buzzer. Giannis Antetokoumpo led Milwaukee with 31 points and Lopez added 23.
