“I feel bad” – Domantas Sabonis Makes Statement on Jayson Tatum’s Injury after Kings-Celtics Game

The Celtics easily dispatched Sacramento on Monday (113-95) by limiting their opponent to 44 points in the second half. In control, skillful from behind the arc (19 of 50, 38%), Joe Mazzulla ‘s charges recorded a 6th straight victory and a 9th success in 10 games to bring their collective record to 53 wins for 19 losses (2nd in the East behind Cleveland). The only downside, and a significant one, on this perfect evening was Jayson Tatum ‘s injury exit at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Having scored 24 points so far, the Boston star fell on the rather unsteady foot of Domantas Sabonis on a three-pointer. A sequence reminiscent of Zaza Pachulia’s foul on Kawhi Leonard during the 2017 NBA Playoffs, which was logically punished with a level 1 flagrant foul by the refereeing body.

With 10 games left in the regular season and three weeks before the playoffs begin, the timing isn’t optimal for Boston, which is now awaiting the results of medical tests that will determine how long its superstar will be out.

Away from the field for many weeks since the beginning of the year, Domantas Sabonis , visibly affected by the incident, had a special thought for JT after the match.

“I feel bad. I’ve had a horrible last month (referring to his physical problems) personally, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. So I can only apologize.”

On a mission to win a second straight title after their triumph last spring, Joe Mazzulla’s men will need Jayson Tatum at 100% to hope to achieve a feat not seen since the Warriors won the double in 2017 and 2018.
