Haason Reddick, who was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in 2024, had not played a single game this season due to unresolved financial disagreements with the Jets.
However, with the latest contract adjustment finalized on October 20, 2024, Reddick is set to rejoin the team, providing much-needed strength to their defensive lineup.
Part of the deal, Adam Schefter have reported that the 12+ millions in fine have been waived by the team. After missing all mandatory team activites and the first 6 games of the 2024 NFL Season, Reddick has accumulated to pretty high amount of fines.
He was set to make 14.5 millions dollars this year.
The newly adjusted contract offers Reddick a more immediate financial incentive, though discussions for a long-term deal remain ongoing. Reddick had initially sought a more secure future contract, but the compromise reached allows both parties to move forward while continuing to negotiate.
His return marks the end of what was one of the last major holdouts of the 2024 NFL season.
This reworking of the deal underscores the Jets’ commitment to maximizing their defensive capabilities as they aim for a playoff push. Given the team’s struggles in his absence, Reddick’s return comes at a pivotal time.
Although specific details of the reworked contract remain unknown at this time, the resolution signals progress towards a potential long-term commitment.
In the past four years, Haason Reddick has been one of the best pass-rusher in the league with a combined 50.5 sacks in total.
The Jets will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers for Sunday Night Football.
