On Thursday, 03/20, the Golden State Warriors (40-29) will host the Toronto Raptors(24-45) in an inter-conference Regular-Season match-up. The Warriors have a loose grip on the 6th spot in the West while the Raptors are tottering at the 11th position in the East. Will the red-hot Warriors dust off the visitors easily? Read about the preview, total predictions, and player props here.
Warriors: Cruising
The Golden State Warriors will come into this game after an impressive 11-point win against the Milwaukee Bucks as Draymond Green shut down Giannis Antetokounmpo while battling a back-to-back situation. It was their 8th win in the nine games, and the team has a stellar 15-2 record with Jimmy Butler. He has formed an electric defensive lineup alongside Draymond Green, as a result, during the last 15 games, they have given up just 106.5 points per game(1st), forcing 17.4 turnovers per game(1st). JB has always upgraded their offense as he has taken some ball-handling and scoring load away from Curry. Thus, the squad is also becoming well-adept at soaking infrequent bad offensive nights by Curry.
Expected Starting Lineup
PG: Stephen Curry | SG: Brandin Podziemski | SF: Jimmy Butler III | PF: Draymond Green | C: Quinten Post
Key Injuries/Updates: Will be updated later.
Raptors: Down and out but with hope
The Toronto Raptors will come into this affair after an embarrassing 40-point loss against the Phoenix Suns as they shot just 35.6% from the field. It was their second defeat in a row but the latest 6-3 spell is their second-best performance after an 8-2 period in January. Overall, the Raptors have an outside chance of grabbing the tenth spot for the Play-in tournament as the Miami Heat has been playing shoddy basketball. The young core has a lot of promise as RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes, and Immanuel Quickley are on a tear while landing Brandon Ingram may work in long-term on the offensive end. However, the team may not identified their franchise face yet.
Expected Starting Lineup
PG/SG: Immanuel Quickley | SG: RJ Barrett | SF: Scottie Barnes | SF/PF: Jamison Battle | C: Jakob Poeltl
Key Injuries/Updates: Brandon Ingram and Gradey Dick can be OUT till the end of the month. The status of Ja’Kobe Walter, RJ Barrett, and Jakob Poeltl is UNCLEAR.
The Warriors will be fresh after a day’s rest and will be raring to put up another offensive masterclass. They can cross the 120-point marker here against the battered Raptors. Meanwhile, Toronto has produced some strong offensive returns, figuring around the 20 mark too, however, they can struggle against the elite Warriors’ defense. Overall, I expect the Dubs to restrict the Raptors under 106 here while accumulating 120+
Projected Predictions:
Stephen Curry to score over 29.5 points: The sharpshooter was on fire in February(30.7 PPG), compared to March(25.9 PPG). However, he will be ready to dial in after a two-day rest and I expect him to explode for a 28+ points effort.
Jimmy Butler III to dish over 7.5 assists: The two-way Wing has delivered 6.1 helpers per game in February, crossing the 6-mark in four of the last five games. I believe he will dish 8-10 assists here..
Scottie Barnes to grab over 7.5 rebounds: The point forward has grabbed around 7 rebounds a game since March. I fancy him to be ina 8-10 range here.
Immanuel Quickley to be held under 15.5 points: The Raptors PG has accumulated 20.5 PPG in March and 17.2 PPG for the season. However, I expect the Warriors defense to hold him under 14 points.
This game will tip off an easy five-game slate for the Warriors, who have arguably faced the toughest schedule throughout the season. The two-way form of Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green is too tricky to handle for below-average squads and if Curry is in a hot zone, it is over! Thus, the Warriors will be heavy favorites and I expect them to punch home a 20+ points win here.
