Gary Neville Makes A Bold Claim Suggesting Tottenham’s XI Outshines Manchester United’s, Except for One Star Ahead Of the UEL Final

Neville’s Shocking Verdict Sparks Debate Ahead of Tottenham vs. Man Utd Europa League Clash

Manchester United has suffered both as a team and individually this season. Ruben Amorim, since taking over in 2024, is taking United towards one of the worst finishes in Premier League history. With the club currently standing on 16th and the Europa League being their only hope, football pundits have started to question the squad.

In the latest interviews, former Manchester United man Gary Neville made a bold claim, making comparison of both UEL finalists. Suggesting a harsh idea, Neville said that Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United could make it to Tottenham’s playing XI in the finals.

Tottenham’s Squad Depth: A Cut Above Manchester United’s?

Even though Tottenham Hotspur are currently in the same boat as United in the English League, Neville suggested the Lilywhites look like a stronger side than Amorim’s. Comparing the players and who would stand out as starters, Neville in his Sky Sports Interview said:

“How many United players would get into that Spurs team if everybody was fit? I think Bruno. Maybe Amad (Diallo), but I’d probably take (Dejan) Kulusevski. Every Tottenham player, barring one, is better than every single Man United player. That’s not being emotional, we’ve gone past that now, it’s just really sad. That’s where Man United are at. It’s what happens to players when they get here. We’ve seen players go the other way and thrive.”

As he talked about the depth Tottenham has, Neville made sure to point out the lack of quality in the Red Devils. Suggesting that only United’s captain Fernandes could fit in Ange Postecoglou’s starting eleven, Neville continued,

“When you look at Tottenham’s players like-for-like with United’s, only Bruno Fernandes would get into Tottenham’s first XI.

“I would choose every single Tottenham player over Man Utd’s in the final.”

Some would support Neville’s remarks on Wednesday, given the season United’s players are having. With new arrivals like Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to pick up the pace, the transfers haven’t worked for Amorim either.

Tottenham Hotspur went through an injury crisis this season. With their centre-backs out for most of the period and a constant lack in depth, Postecoglou might be backed for making it to the final stages of the UEL.

Facing Manchester United in the finals could prove handy for them, given their recent form against the Red Devils. Manchester United has failed to register a win against Tottenham since October 2022. Moreover, Postecoglou also won both of the fixtures against United in the Premier League campaign.
