Jose Mourinho appeared to pull Galatasaray Manager Okan Buruk’s nose.
It’s never a dull derby day in Türkiye. Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe hosted Galatasaray in the Turkish Cup Quarterfinal on Wednesday. In what was a chaotic knockout game, Galatasaray managed to strive through thanks to a Viktor Osimhen brace.
As the match was edging towards its end, a brawl broke down in the technical area. Three red cards were shown to players during the extra time while Moirinho was also shown a red card for violent conduct.
Fenerbahçe manager Mourinho was seen furious in the incident. Being involved in a physical altercation with Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk, Mourinho might have put himself in a tough spot. With their exit from the Turkish Cup and him facing a potential ban, things aren’t looking in place for Fenerbahçe.

During the post-match conference, Buruk chose to not speak much on Mourinho’s actions as he simply said: “I won’t exaggerate Mourinho’s move but it wasn’t a stylish thing”
Following the incident fans had a very upset reaction to Mourinho’s actions. Asking for restraining for throwing hands on the opposition manager, fans expressed their anger over social media.
Terming the act to be offensive, a fan wrote on X: “This behaviour seems unprofessional and unbecoming of “manliness.” Although Mourinho’s controversial style is known, physical contact pushes the boundaries of sportsmanship and has drawn criticism.”

Mourinho has been involved in controversy with Fenerbahçe before. Suing them for infringement in March, the 62-year-old replied to Galatasaray’s racism allegations. Getting himself involved in a physical confrontation following the sequence could put Mourinho in a rough spot.
Mourinho could face a 5-10 match ban following the physical altercation with Buruk. With Fenrbahçe trailing by six points to league leaders Galatasaray, his actions could cost him so significantly in the title race.
Galatasaray made it to the semifinals of the Turkish Cup despite a rough 90 minutes. They will shift their focus back to the Super Lig as eight match days wait for them.
