Francisco Cerundolo vs Jakub Menšík Head-to-Head Record, Preview, and Prediction for Madrid Open 2025 Quarter-final

Devavrat Kulkarni

Cerundolo and Mensik will battle it out for a spot in the semis!

Today’s quarterfinal at the Madrid Open promises to be a feisty encounter as the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo takes on the young and upcoming Czech Jakub Menšík. Cerundolo, ranked 21st in the world, has come through to the quarters on the back of some exquisite tennis, especially in the previous round where he dispatched the number one seed Alexander Zverev in straight sets.

Overall, the Argentine has been having quite a good year on tour, reaching the quarterfinals and semifinals on numerous occasions. His best result this year came in the Argentina Open, where he lost in the final but took out Zverev once again. He has also had great wins against Casper Ruud and Alex De Minaur this season.

Menšík, on the other hand, has also displayed quality tennis as he has come through the draw without dropping a set in his first three matches against Ethan Quinn, Ben Shelton, and Alexander Bublik. Menšík played a brilliant match against Ruud at the Australian Open this year, winning in four sets, but his best performance came at the Miami Open, where he took out the number 3 and 4 seeds, Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic, in the semifinal and final.

Francisco Cerundolo vs Jakub Menšík Head-to-Head Record

Cerundolo and Menšík have met each other only once before. Their first match against each other came in 2024 on the hard courts of Beijing. After a tight first set that went the distance, Cerundolo held on, taking the tiebreak 7-4. The second set was lopsided, however, as Menšík’s game fell apart and the Argentine closed out the match in just two sets.

Francisco Cerundolo vs Jakub Menšík Comparison

Cerundolo, who has been on tour longer than his Czech counterpart, has played a lot more tennis at this level. However, Menšík has started to take steps in the right direction and could be a much bigger force soon. The Argentine has performed the best on clay courts, while the 19-year-old Menšík is more suited for the hard courts.

Francisco Cerundolo vs Jakub Menšík Madrid Open Prediction

There is not much to go on between the two players in terms of their head-to-head records. However, since this match will be played on clay, Cerundolo has a slight advantage. Mind you, both players have played well to reach this stage of the tournament, but one of the biggest confidence-boosting factors is Cerundolo’s huge win against Zverev in the round of 16.

After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
