‘He owes me $5000’ – Former Double Champ goes off on Alex Pereira for a long lost bet!

Eric Divakaran

It seems like Daniel Cormier, former double champ of the UFC and a color commentator for the UFC, has kept receipts on Alex Pereira and has not forgotten about the bets these two had placed a long time ago.

It was a humorous exchange between the two fighters and while Pereira seems to have forgotten about the bet, Cormier seems to have waited for him to pay up $5000 grands that he was owed. What was the bet all about? Let us find out.

Poatan and DC had placed a bet previously for a soccer match

Pereira had placed a $5000 wager alongside Cormier for a soccer match that happened on June 12th, 2024, which was a international friendly match between Brazil and USA. The final score was 1-1 was the game ended up as a draw.

What were the bet’s conditions?

Poatan had betted his money on Brazil to win the match. Whereas, DC put his money in the match betting that the United States would not lose. Since the match ended as a draw, DC thinks that he is the winner of the wager. However, Brazil did not really lose the match since it was a tie, so Poatan shrugged off the bet.

The two eventually agreed to contribute $5000 to a charity of the individual’s choice.

After 5 months, DC still thinks that he won that bet

Recently, when Pereira translator asked DC about if he would bet on the fight (between Poatan and Ankalaev), Cormier said “F*** No. Why would I do that? Only football.” DC continued “He (Pereira) still owes me five thousand dollars. You still owe me 5000 dollars from last time. We’ve done this, time and time again. That is all he won’t pay. Remember five grand, USA vs Brazil. I said, I only said we will not lose to Brazil. He said we’re gonna win. It was a draw. You owe me five grand.”

Pereira then starts defending himself saying “It was a draw,” and he was not wrong. However DC still insisted “No, you said y’all would win. I said we won’t lose. We did not lose.” It was a hilarious back and forth between the two and they both were all smiles.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
